    2008 Independents Football Predictions

    By Joboo | August 28, 2008

The + is for Osceola who competes in the WEMO.

    Team record conf record
    Osceola 7-3 4-2
    Thayer 5-4
    El Dorado Springs 4-6
    McAuley 3-7
    Central 2-8
    McDonald County 1-9

The Indians are poised for a good year with their 4-2 record being good for 3rd behind Adrian and Cass-Midway. A district including Rich Hill, Liberal, and Greenfield provides a good opportunity to make it to the playoffs. Don’t let Thayer’s record deceive you. They will be good especially with all-state defenders Luke Martin and Jacob Eckman returning, they just have a tough schedule. Their 4 losses I have picked are to Mountain Grove, Cabool, Miller, and class 5 Central. Not bad for a class 1 school. El Dorado Springs will try to build off last years 5-6 record. A favorable district gives them another shot at the playoffs.  McAuley returns a good number of starters and experience from last year’s playoff team, but also have a beefed up schedule.  The big question with Central is who did head coach Ozzie Riley tick off to get stuck in the district they’re in.  The toughest district in the state possibly.  Ray-Pec, Belton, and Lee’s Summit West.  The Bulldogs do show signs of improvement and could likely do better than I think.  But they’ve got a fairly tough schedule.  And McDonald County is still reeling from the not having team leader Kord Stancell.  Kord was diagnosed with a heart ailment and was forced to quit competitive athletics.  The Mustangs already had questions marks especially in the line.  And they have a very tough schedule also.  Do you notice a them with these independent teams here?
