2008 Ozark Conference Football Predictions
By Joboo | August 28, 2008
Want to know the effect of the new playoff system on conferences? Look no further than the Ozark Conference where only 4 teams will play a full conference schedule.
| Team | record | conf record |
| Camdenton | 9-1 | 8-1 |
| Waynesville | 8-2 | 8-1 |
| Lebanon | 7-3 | 7-2 |
| Rolla | 5-5 | 5-4 |
| Joplin | 4-6 | 4-3 |
| Glendale | 6-4 | 3-4 |
| Hillcrest | 3-7 | 2-5 |
| West Plains | 3-7 | 1-6 |
| Parkview | 2-8 | 1-6 |
| Kickapoo | 1-9 | 0-7 |
This is the biggest gut pick I’m making this year. Taking a team with 4 offensive and 2 defensive starters to win a good Ozarks Conference race. I must be nuts. But then I see that it’s Camdenton and I feel better about being nuts. Coach Bob Shore has been saying some good things about this team and I think they’re very motivated after not making the playoffs last year. They have 2 games to gel before heading to Glendale the 3rd week where I’ve picked them for their only loss. The next week, back home against Joplin should really tell the tale. Waynesville loses a lot but still have a well-stocked cupboard led by DB B.J. Ray. They should still be a major factor in the conference. Lebanon is the team on the rise in the OC this year. Missouri signee Justin Britt leads the way and senior QB Ryan Howerton leading a newly installed spread offense should put more points on the board. Glendale, Joplin, and Rolla are in very similar situations. Some great weapons returning on the offensive side of the ball. QB Kevin Redmon and WR Alex Sanders of Glendale, RB Barrett Noirfalise of Joplin, and RB Cameron Fore of Rolla. But all have some real question marks on defense and on the line. If any of the three can solve those issues, they could make a run to the top. Hillcrest returns TB Mikael Falls-Cooper and other talented offensive starters. They should be able to put up some serious offensive numbers. West Plains has 18 lettermen coming back but a real lack of depth beyond them will keep them from challenging. Both the Hornets and the Zizzers are capable of stealing a game of two though and moving up the standings. I think Parkview breaks through and gets some wins this year. With the success they’ve had the last couple of years at the JV and freshman level, this should be the start of something good for them. Kickapoo is going to try to utilize their speed more under new coach Kuper Kreul. But they just have the makeup of a team that is looking at a rough year.
- Coach of the year - Bob Shore, Camdenton
- Offensive player of the year - Barrett Noirfalise, Joplin
