    Joplin Globe All-Area Baseball Team

    Monday, June 30th, 2008

The Globe released their All-Area Baseball team yesterday. In what has become a trend for the Globe, co-MVPs were named. Chance Sossamon of Webb City and Zak Porath of Carl Junction. Both deserving of such an honor, there’s not much statistically to split the two. I personally would have made Sossamon [...]

    News-Leader All-Ozarks Baseball

    Monday, June 30th, 2008

The News-Leader released their All-Ozarks Baseball teams over a week ago. And I struggled with mentioning it because, as with all the News-Leaders All-Ozarks team, it was heavily slanted to the immediate Springfield area and to the larger schools. Of the thirteen players named on the first team, only four are not [...]

    News-Leader athletes of the year

    Friday, June 27th, 2008

Earlier this week the News-Leader announced their male and female athletes of the year. Matt Jordan of Ozark on the boys side. And Waynesville’s Katie Pritchard on the girls. Both excellent choices and good articles on both. Ozark fans will sorely miss Jordan after the huge role he played in [...]

    Southwest All-Stars soccer games

    Friday, June 27th, 2008

In sports, we often make reference to ‘going out on top’. Coaches and players who retire after winning a championship. An athlete walking away from the game while still one of the very best. Memories of those who have done so are plentiful. Sandy Koufax retiring while still the dominant pitcher [...]

    Missouri Sportswriters/Sportscasters All-State Baseball Team

    Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

The Missouri Sportswriters/Sportscasters Association announced their All-State Baseball Teams today.  Excellent Ozarks representation across all 4 classes.  The final four teams (Stoutland, Conway, Webb City, and Ozark) all had multiple selections.  Blue Eye, Forsyth, Miller, Purdy, and Rolla also each had 2 selections.
When the coaches all-state teams were announced, I questioned the exclusion of [...]

    SW Soccer All-Star games rescheduled

    Saturday, June 21st, 2008

After lightning forced the premature end of the girls game Thursday night, both games have been rescheduled for this Thursday. Same start times (girls game at 6 PM, boys at 8 PM) at Lake Country Soccer.  Again, this will be your last chance to see some of these athletes play.  So get on out [...]

And the OzarksSports.Net conquest of the South is now complete. While I was out on vacation, both Mississippi and West Virginia visited for the first time. In honor of this momentous occurrence, let’s take a closer look at our new friends.
    Mississippi

While not filled with tons of national titles & national recognition, the Mississippi [...]

Hit me with a hot link

    Monday, June 16th, 2008

I am nearing completion of what I hope will be the definitive page of Ozarks sports related links.  All the schools, all the teams, all the newspapers, all the TV stations, everything that I can find that is related to high school and youth sports in SW Mo.  There are sites that are creative & [...]

Both the Area boys & girls teams won in the 31st annual Lions Club All-Star Classic last night in Springfield.  The girls, led by Casey Garrison’s 21 points, built a 15 point halftime lead and cruised to 71-44 win.  Marshfield’s Lacey Boshe had 15 for the Area team.  Alicia Garoutte of Kickapoo had 10 points [...]
