Class 2 district 8 all-district baseball team

Many thanks to coach Jason Morris of Iberia for sending along the all-district baseball team from class 2 district 8.  Iberia lead the way with 7 picks and 1 honorable mention.  Conway and district champion Eugene both had 5 picks also.  Conway & Eugene will return all but one of their selections next year so you have to like their chance for the 2010 season.  Congratulations to all the honorees.  And good luck.

Quarterfinal baseball finals

And the lineups for Springfield are all set as the quarterfinals come to a close.  In class 2, Strafford ends Purdy’s season with a 15-9 win.  Conner Wilson got the win in relief and also went 3 for 3 at the plate to lead the Indians.  Strafford next takes on Linn on Wednesday.  And it was [...]

Quarterfinal soccer results

One area team moves on, and one goes home in state soccer action last night.  Catholic advances to an all Catholic school final four as they defeat Southen Boone 2-1 last night.  Maddy Renner got the eventual game winner midway through the first half and the Lady Irish defense made it stand up.  But in class [...]

Quarterfinal baseball results

And just like that, the quarterfinal round is almost over while the final sectional game is still being played.  Dora wins their class 1 battle with Stoutland 5-2, ending the Tigers quest for a fourth straight final four trip.  The Falcons will be making their first trip to the big show.  Strafford and Purdy were rained [...]

Southwest All-Stars Soccer Games

Last week, Ole at Springfield Soccer posted the girls roster for the Southwest Missouri All-Star Game to go along with the boys roster announced in Nov.  So I thought this would be a good time to make sure every one here put it on their calendars.  June 15th at Cooper #1 at the Lake Country Soccer [...]

State baseball first round completed – almost

Only one game still left to play.  Ava at Clinton.  The winner there will be Carl Junction who downed Catholic 11-8.  Salem also marches on with a 3-0 win in St. Louis over Westminster Christian.  And Strafford wins the big matchup as three unearned runs help them get past Landon Jarrett and Mansfield 3-2.  I’ll post the quarterfinal schedule as soon as it’s complete.

CLASS 2

First round state soccer

Glendale didn’t score early, as it took over 20 minutes to get on the board.  But after that, they did score often in their sectional matchup with Joplin winning 9-1 behind four goals from Emily Cline.  Cline and Molly Brewer each knocked home a pair in the first half with Jeni Frewin grabbing one to make [...]

More first round baseball

A wild one in Stockton tonight in the class 2 sectionals.  Stockton jumps all over Purdy in the first inning to the tune of 8-0, scores 5 more runs the rest of the way, and it is not enough to move on as the Eagle bats ignite and Purdy wins 16-13.  Blake Williams drives home four runs and slugs a homer to lead the way.  Mason Roller only lasted one inning on the bump but still made his standard contribution from the plate with two doubles and 2 RBI.  Purdy moves on to face the winner of the Strafford/Mansfield sectional which was again delayed by rain.

In class 1, Stoutland goes on the road and defeats Weaubleau 9-6 as they move one step away from returning to the final four for the fourth straight time.  The will face Dora tomorrow to see who moves on to Springfield.

Finally, Rolla’s quest for a class 4 title came to a premature end in DeSoto as the Dragons dropped the Bulldogs 11-7

CLASS 1

  • Stoutland 9, Weaubleau 6
