Week 5 sportswriters football poll

It’s week 5 of the sportswriters poll, and the Rolla Bulldogs took the advice of the Doors and broke on through to the other side.  Rolla debuts in the class 5 poll this week at number 5 riding the strength of their hot start.  They are the only area entry in either the class 6 or class 5 poll.

Class 2 only has one area entry also as Fair Grove holds at #2.  The Mt. View-Liberty Eagles fall out of the top 10 after their close call with Strafford.

The other three remaining polls are littered with Ozarks teams.  Class 4 has Webb City still on top, Bolivar still at #3, and Carthage moves back in after their win over Neosho.  The Tigers sit at #10 this week.

Greenfield, Thayer, and Miller all hold their places from last week in the class 1 poll.  Greenfield sits at #5, Thayer at #6, and Miller at #8.

Week 5 MoSports Power Poll

Week 5 of the MoSports Power Poll is probably the most unchanged poll of the year so far as far as Ozarks teams are concerned.  Two teams move in but they’re both old friends to the poll.  In class 3, Cassville jumps back into the top 10 at #7 as the voters now seem convinced that they’re back.  Monett remains #2, Rogersville moves up one spot to #6, and Mountain Grove holds at #9.

The other new/old face is in class 1 as Miller reappears at #10.  They’ll face a big challenge this week from a hot Pierce City squad.  Thayer holds at #5, with Greenfield remaining at #6.

In class 5 Rolla jumps up one space to #6 now.  While no changes in class 4 with Webb City still at #1 and Bolivar still at #8.

9/21/09 Question of the Week Results

It’s amazing what a few state titles can do for a coach’s reputation.  A pair of coaches with 5 state titles to their name top our question of the week results from last week.  Webb City’s John Roderique was the overwhelming top choice getting 23 of the 71 votes for 32 %.  The Camdenton Lakers have [...]

9/28/09 volleyball rankings

The weekly Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association rankings are out a bit late but have some big news.  Not only did all the ranked teams from the Ozarks stay in the polls this week, there’s a new guest at the party.  After victories over Rogersville, Glendale, Sacred Heart, & Kickapoo as well as winning their own tournament, the Camdenton Lakers debut in the class 4 rankings at #7.  Ozark drops to #8 from #5 and Glendale falls from #6 to #9.  Camdenton sits at 18-1 and if they can keep that record intact, they have a HUGE game awaiting them against undefeated and #4 ranked Helias on October 19.

No change at all in the class 3 poll.  Republic holds at #5 and Mountain Grove at #9.  Cassville & McDonald County continue to get consideration.

Class 2 still has only one area team ranked with Ash Grove holding steady at #6.  But a half dozen Ozarks squads are under consideration including College Heights, Conway, El Dorado Springs, Fair Grove, Houston, and Stockton.

OS.Net Question of the Week – 9/28/09

As we hit the halfway mark, this weeks question involves who has had the best season so far.  Lot’s of good candidates across the Ozarks.  Touchdown machine Caleb Schaffitzel covers both offense & defense for Fair Grove.  Christian Privett of #1 Monett.  Braxton Baker, one of many strong links for Webb City.  Maybe you like one [...]

Week 5 review

Just call me butter baby, because I am on a roll.  Only one ugly game this week and it truly was ugly as Rolla & Joplin slugged it out in the slop.  Other than that, I only missed close ones.  So, yes.  I am feeling better about myself.  I am somebody.  Wednesday we’ll debut the rankings for each class along with the undefeated & winless lists.  But rest assured, I’ll be studying hard to do even better this week in the meantime.

Because I’m not happy, until all the ugly is eliminated from…
