Cassville wins back to back state titles with a 24-7 win over previously undefeated Bowling Green.  I’ll have a full recap & analysis tomorrow.  The Wildcats become the first Big 8 team to win consecutive titles, and join Aurora, Monett, and Mt. 2009 Season Opening Tournaments

The first full week of the season has become a haven for tournaments in the Ozarks.  Here’s all the tourney info that I have right now.  I’ll add more as I get it.

  • Saturday – 11/28

11/24/09 Scores

And we have our first big performances of the year on opening night for boys basketball.  Pleasant Hope’s Matt Brown scores 42 points as the Pirates top Buffalo 72-62.  Meanwhile Laquey’s 6-9 center Andre Hilbert put up an impressive triple double with 23 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots as the Hornets won 68-50.  And the Stoutland boys start their season impressively with a 100-49 win over Macks Creek.

I know that many of you would love to crown Cassville state champions right now.  After going through Seneca, Rogersville, and KC O’Hara, they’ve done enough to deserve it.  But there’s still one game left to play.  And it’s against a team that deserves to be mentioned with those three.  So let’s take a few moments to get to know Cassville’s opponent, and break down what we may see in St. Louis on Saturday.
