Why so slow Joboo?

Some of you may have noticed that the scores have been a little slow this week.  That would be because your faithful reporter is located in beautiful Denver, Colorado until Saturday.  The travel time was detrimental to internet usage as is the lovely Rocky Mountains.  But I’m settled in until then, and will be on the [...]

2/24/10 State Basketball Rankings

Last regular season rankings for classes 4 and 5.  Next to last for classes 1, 2, & 3.  And while one deserving boys team makes their first appearance of the year, the other is still MIA.

But first, on the girls side, Nixa an Kickapoo finished out the regular season in class 5 just as they werhttp://www.ozarkssports.net/wp-admin/post-new.phpe last week.  With Nixa at #3 and Kickapoo at #5.  Class 4 remains the same with Webb City at #1.  Skyline remains at #9, Mt. Vernon climbs two spots to #5, and Conway ascends to the cusp of the summit.  Moving up one spot to #2.  Sparta remains at #1 in class 2.  But the remainder of the Ozarks contingent is shuffled behind them.  Osceola falls four places to #10, Purdy moves up one to #7, Miller jumps two places to #8, and Richland falls out after one week.  And class 1 gets a good shuffle also as Eminence drops out after being #10 last week, Walnut Grove falls from #3 to #7, and Verona climbs up one place to #5.

On the boys side, Gainesville who now stands at 24-1 moves into the class 2 rankings at #10.  Three other Ozarks teams hold their spots from last week with Stoutland at #5, Spokane at #6, and Laquey at #9.  But in class 1, 20-1 Thomas Jefferson still can’t find a place among the state’s elite despite tagging Southwest with only their third loss of the year.  Continue reading 2/24/10 State Basketball Rankings

2/23/10 District Report

We have the first upsets of the district season tonight.  Both on the boys side in class 4.  At Eldon, Salem knocks off a good Owensville team 69-56.  The Tigers entered the contest with a 6-18 record, but sent the 14-11 Dutchmen home for the year and march on to take on second seed Fulton.

And in Republic, the #6 seed Cassville Wildcats had been knocking on the door of a signature win for the last few weeks.  After losing to Monett at Monett by only three points, they seemed poised to make the jump.  And jump they did as they drop Monett in the rematch 64-38.  Travis Northern leads three Wildcats in double figures with 14 points as they move on to face #2 seed Reeds Spring Thursday.
