Down the stretch run we come & some unexpected teams are staggering toward the finish. With less than a month left & district seeding on the line this week, teams are making their last statements for placing. None made a bigger statement last night than Glendale & Aurora. Both played their biggest rivals who were state ranked, and both came away with dramatic victories. Freshman Emily Cline hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer giving her 30 points for the night & sinking Kickapoo 52-49. While the Lady Houn Dawgs used a balanced attack & staunch defense to take down Mt. Vernon 44-41 in overtime. And the biggest scoring performance in the area came predictably from the area’s biggest scorer. Miller’s Hannah Wilkerson poured in 33 to lead the Cardinals past Lockwood 55-46.
