25th Bass Pro TofC field announced
By Joboo | April 16, 2008
Next years version of the Tournament of Champions will see a few changes in both teams playing and days playing on. But will still have an excellent field and a host of strong division 1 prospects.
The local entries should be solid and a challenge for the out-of-state entries. Glendale, Central, and Ozark, all teams on the rise, will be replacing Kickapoo and Waynesville in representing the Ozarks. I look for them to do a very admirable job.
Traditional powers St. Raymond’s of the Bronx, NY and White Station of Memphis return. While three new teams will take their first bow. The McEachern High School Indians of Powder Springs, GA. The Olympia High School Titans of Orlando, FL. And the Word of God Christian Academy Rams of Raleigh, NC.
Also new this year, the tournament will be played Jan 15-17, which is a Thur-Sat schedule as opposed to the traditional Fri-Sun. The News-Leader article indicates that the change was made to boost sagging Sunday attendance and to enable the Georgia and North Carolina teams to compete.
One thing left to be decided is the location. Organizers are hoping to play in the new JQH Arena instead of Hammons Student Center, but that is still up in the air.
I’ll be posting more information as we draw closer to the tournament, but mark your calendars now. It should be another great show.
