Bass Pro Tournament of Champions 1st round scores

    By Joboo | January 18, 2008

Scores from the first round updated as they finish.

Christ the King 65, McCluer North 64 OT
McCluer got a combined 57 points from their big 3 of Femi John, Torres Rountree, & Anthony Booker. But Erving Walker put up 33 including 19 in the second half & 6 in overtime to lead Royals back from a 6 point halftime deficit.
    Kickapoo 70, Monsignor Pace 65
Dusty Allen & Alex Hall scored 28 points apiece to overcome a 5 point halftime deficit. The Chiefs took the lead for good with just over 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The Spartans tied it up twice in the fourth, the second time with under 2 minutes remaining. But Hall hit a big 3 & the Chiefs went 7 of 8 from the line in the last minute to put it away. Florida signee Ray Shipman had 25 points for the Spartans.
    LaFlore 72, Champaign Central 59
Much closer than the final score shows. Central was within 5 points with about a minute left. LaFlore’s DeMarcus Cousins, who is still unsigned, put in 23 points & 11 rebounds to lead the Rattlers over the Maroons who got 17 points from Donald Stewart.
    Waynesville 63, Helen Cox 60
Greg Monroe looked as good as advertised, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the upset of the night. Monroe scored 21 points on 9 of 10 shooting against a double team most of the game, had 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, & 4 steals. While Chris Rebuck & Dominique Long each had 16 points to lead the Tigers. Waynesville led by 10 in the fourth quarter before the Cougars rallied to within 2, but the Tigers made 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute to hold on.
