By Joboo | January 19, 2008
“Here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again. Oh, here it goes again.” - OK Go
Same song second verse. The latest scores served fresh & hot.
Monsignor Pace 74, McCluer North 68
Ray Shipman looked like a man on a mission tonight. 30 points later & the Spartans are headed into the 5th place game tomorrow. Femi John poured in 33 for the Stars but it wasn’t enough to overcome 38% team shooting.
Helen Cox 65, Champaign Central 64 2OT
A thriller any way you cut it. Central’s Zander Culver hits a 3 with 1.3 seconds in regulation to force overtime. Followed by Central getting another 3 late in the OT from Jerry Exum to force double overtime. But with the game on the line, Zander couldn’t connect on a jumper from the free throw line to win it. Greg Monroe had another solid game with 17 points for the Cougars.
Christ the King 63, Kickapoo 59
Trailing by 5 at halftime & 12 in the 3rd quarter, the Royals cranked up the defense & let Erving Walker do his thing. Walker scored 28 points for the game including 22 in the second half on 7 of 10 3-point shooting. The Royals also held the Chiefs scoreless for a 5 minute stretch in the second half to move into the championship game tomorrow night. Dusty Allen scored 22 to lead the Chiefs.
LaFlore 70, Waynesville 47
The Rattlers took control in the 2nd quarter & didn’t let up the rest of the game to win easily. 10 different players scored for LaFlore lead by Nick Williams’ 21 points. Waynesville could only manage 28% shooting for the game.
