By Joboo | January 20, 2008
All good things must end. And so too must this T of C. Let’s see if the final day lives up the the high standard set by the first 2 days.
McCluer North 67, Champaign Central 53
The Missouri class 5 #1 Stars go out on a high note. Torres Rountree scored 22, Femi John put in 21, & Anthony Booker had a double double with 13 points & 11 rebounds. Verdell Jones returned after missing Saturday’s game to lead the Maroons with 17 points.
Helen Cox 67, Monsignor Pace 64
Greg Monroe played like the #1 player in the country down the stretch with 2 big baskets & an assist to lead Helen Cox to victory in the 5th place game. He scored 23 points for the game & was helped by Justin Fairman’s 18 points.
Waynesville 64, Kickapoo 63
Waynesville claimed 3rd place on a Chris Rebuck 3 pointer with 6.3 seconds left to knock off the Chiefs.
Christ the King 73, LaFlore 71 OT
A fitting finale to what was definitely one of the best T of C so far. Ryan Pearson, who had 34 points & 15 rebounds, stole an inbounds pass with 17.4 seconds left & hit both free throws for the margin of victory. A final 3 by LaFlore’s Nick Williams as time expired was off. Erving Walker also had 24 points for the Royals. DeMarcus Cousins was huge for the Rattlers. A monster game with 38 points & 12 rebounds, but fouled out just before the final drame unfolded.
