With this years Tournament of Champions fresh in our memories, this week’s QotW asks which player will we hear the most from in 10 years. MVP Joe Jackson of White Station is the obvious choice after 2 years of brilliance. But Hillcrest’s Doriel Green also had a strong tournament. Maybe Fab de Melo who’s bound for [...]

White Station 68, Milton, GA 63 – Joe Jackson scores 29 as the Spartans rallied from an early 15-3 deficit to finally take the lead in the third quarter, saw that lead grow to 13, then had to hold off a Milton rally to secure the fifth ToC title for White Station. Evan Nolte lead the Eagles charge back scoring 24. They pulled within 3 at 66-63 with 17 seconds left, but time ran out on their tournament run. Jackson claims tournament MVP honers.
Christ the King 68, Kickapoo 35 – The Royals were all over this one from the get go as they just seemed a step ahead of Kickapoo at every part of the game. They lead 34-19 at the half then outscored the Chiefs 22-10 in the third to secure the win. Omar Calhoun again lead the Royals in scoring with 21 points. The sophomore made the all-tournament team and will be a player to watch in two years when the Royals return. Continue reading 2010 Bass Pro Tournament of Champions – Day 3

White Station 77, Kickapoo 66 – A valiant effort by the Chiefs comes up just short as this game was close until late in the fourth quarter. Brodie Wingert was saddled with foul trouble. But Chris Underwood and Cody Anderson both had strong games to pick up the slack. Joe Jackson continues to play big in [...]

Kickapoo 71, United Faith Academy 67 – And Kickapoo pulls the upset. United Faith kept chipping away but Kickapoo kept hitting free throws and for the most part handled the press well to move on. Great win for the Chiefs who move on to face White Station at 9 tomorrow. United Faith will play Sagemont in the Consolation bracket at 6:30. Ian Miller was high scorer with 25 for United Faith. Brodie Wingert scores 21 and grabs 12 rebounds to lead Kickapoo.
Halfway through the final period and Kickapoo is still up by 6, 59-53. Can they finish off the upset.
Kickapoo expands their lead in the third period and enter the final frame leading 52-45. Ryan Rippee now has 14 for Kickapoo.
It hasn’t been the smoothest start to the season for the Kickapoo Chiefs, but they’re looking good tonight as the lead United Faith Adademy at halftime 36-30. Brodie Wingert has 15 points for Kickapoo as they’ve led the majority of the game so far.

Last year when I did my ToC preview, it wasn’t easy to find information. This year, you can’t swing the proverbial dead cat without hitting something about the ToC. So here’s the best from the pros, along with the schedule. I’ll be posting results as I get them tonight. Get out and enjoy because it should be spectacular.

11:45 PM – Word of God 80, Olympia 77 For the third straight game, the halftime leader can’t make it to the clubhouse as tournament MVP John Wall scores 41 points, including a TofC record 17 free throws to rally the Holy Rams to the championship. He also had 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Olympia had a shot at the buzzer to tie but the shot my Sherwood Brown fell no good, and Word of God takes the title on their first trip to Springfield. C.J. Leslie did return to the game and scored 19 on the night. Wall finishes with 89 points for the 3 games with Leslie netting 73. Brown only scored 3 in the second half to finish with 18. But 4 other Titans registered double digits with William Green getting 13 points and 11 rebounds. Great win for WoG as they down a quality Olympia team.
A big thank you to Colt for being my special correspondant at the games today. For any young ladies that may be reading, Colt is a fine young man and to the best of my knowledge is not seeing anyone. Do watch out for his mother though. She can be quite mean.
Congrats to the Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams, the 2009 Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions champions!

11:35 PM - McEachern 66, Central 48. Down only 29-21 at the half despite only shooting 29.4%, the Bulldogs would continue to misfire early in the second half and the Indians were not seriously challenged from halftime on. Central finished with 30% shooting for the game and were outrebounded 47-33. The Bulldogs could only manage 2 players in double figures with Thomas Chadwick scoring 13 and Nathan Wood 10. Top recruit Trae Golden lead all scorers with 24. Teammates Alioune Diouf hit for 11 and Colin Reddick 10 as the Indians move on to play Olympia at 9:30 tomorrow. Central will clash with Ozark at 8.
