It’s been a while since I updated the Goodfellas list that you see to the right. For those of you who don’t know, the Goodfellas are the guys who have proven to me they really care about high school sports. That it’s not just about trying to make a buck, but about wanting to give coverage and exposure to our local high school athletes. So it’s with great joy that I have some additions to the Goodfellas list, and with sadness, some subtractions.

That’s right, OzarksSports.Net finally has a Facebook presence. Feel free to be our friend and get access to all our content in yet another form of social media. I’ll be trying to refine the account as time allows, but with the fall sports season starting, it may be a while. I guess that means I didn’t embarrass myself too badly last time. Or that Ned & Scott are really hard up for guests. Either way [...] A new website has appeared on the Ozarks scene, and it hopes to change the face of local high school sports coverage. COC Prep Sports is dedicated to covering all the aspects of the Central Ozark Conference both Small and Large divisions. But it’s operated by the conference itself, a first for SW Mo and perhaps [...] Found out this evening that I will be making an appearance on the Sports Reporters on The Jock 98.7 tomorrow. 10:05 is my scheduled call time. I must say, this is something special for me. As a loyal KY3 family growing up, Ned Reynolds has been sports in the Ozarks to me for my whole life. [...] Just got directed to a new website by a post on The Scoreboard Guy’s website. And it turned out to be someone most of us are familiar with, but he’s headed in a new direction. Allen Vaughn of News-Leader high school beat fame now has his own site going called RecSpecs Online. He’s still talking about [...] I’ll be honest, this article turned into a bit of a long winded rant. So if you just want the brass tacks, skip to the last paragraph now. Otherwise, please read on. Last year as the Show-Me Bowl weekend approached, I made an attempt to secure a press pass for the big event from MSHSAA. Now in no way do I consider myself a member of the press, and I didn’t expect to be granted a pass. I just thought, “Why not try? I’m going to be there anyway.” They had every right to say no. If they had investigated OzarksSports.Net and found that I’m not a full-time writer and it’s not a full-business and had said politely “We appreciate your interest, but no.” I would have been able to walk away. But that isn’t what happened. |
