The Springfield Lions Club held their 33rd annual All-Star Classic this last weekend, matching the best of the area with the best of the city. We’d like to know who had the most outstanding [...] The people have spoken in record numbers. And with incredible support from the towns of Houston & Lebanon, Kyle Poynter is the people’s choice for boys athlete of the year. And all-state selection in basketball, and a likely all-state selection in baseball, comments & emails also pointed to Kyle’s character as a main reason for his support. And we’re all about that at OzarksSports. The senior took an astonishing 60% of the vote due to the deluge of votes from his local fans. Coming in second was sophomore Doriel Green with 16%. Green made all-state in both football & basketball, and is won three events at the class 4 sectional track & field meet this weekend. A pair of under appreciated stars tie for third with Alex wise of Neosho & Travis Northern of Cassville both getting 6%. We have our first QotW controversy. Unfortunately, it’s affecting the extremely talented Kyle Poynter of Houston. I noticed this afternoon that Kyle had made a dramatic run up the rankings. Not that he doesn’t deserve it. Talented at football, basketball, & baseball, he plays all three sports extremely well. By a better than 2 to 1 margin over the next closest finisher, it Hannah Wilkerson of Miller.
