Feeling sick for two weeks can leave you a lot of time to think. And since my mind is going 100 miles an hour on a normal day, the last thing I need is time to think. Lewis Black once hypothesized that hearing the dumbest thing he’d ever heard could be the possible cause of an aneurysm. Now I’m not saying that one of my thoughts may be the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard. But with a wife and two children that I’d still like to spend a few more years with, I’m not taking any chances. We’re taking a trip to the barbershop so I can purge myself of potentially lethal thoughts. If one of them causes you to have an aneurysm, I apologize. But I don’t think you can prove anything.

Vernon 66 Verona: Tristan Carasquillo – 26 pts, 5 3s; Jenna Chadd – 23 pts, 5 3s Miller 82, Ash Grove 70 Miller: Hannah Wilkerson – 38 pts; Betsy Epps – 20 pts, 5 3s Lady Bear [...] Mt. Vernon wins a great game tonight as they travel to Willard and defeat the Tigers 56-54. Zack Kleine is the star scoring 32 for the Mountaineers as they get a rod win against a good Willard squad. On the ladies side, Miller and Ash Grove will meet for the third time in three weeks in the Lady Comet Invitational at Marionville. Ash Grove overcame a scoreless first quarter and caught Cassville in the fourth to win 48-40. The Lady Pirates got 25 points from Kaile Weinreis. While Miller got 38 from Hannah Wilkerson as they defeated Billings 75-53. BASKETBALL BOYS Spokane Tournament

Lots of Saturday action. The Glendale girls win the Ozarks Invitational knocking off Blue Springs 390-348. The Lady Falcons won all but 3 events en route to the title. Kickapoo finished second with Central fifth. On the court, Spokane won the boys SWCL Tournament with a 60-44 win over Crane. Sparta downs Fordland 61-45 to win the Lady Trojan Classic. Joplin shows something by losing a close 63-57 decision to Webster Groves in the final of the Kaminsky Classic. The Statesmen are the likely #1 team in the state whenever state rankings actually are released so a fine effort by the Eagles. And the Webb City girls get another big win as they travel to St. Louis and defeat St. Joseph’s Academy 58-51. Kyndal Clark lead the Lady Cardinals with 17 points.
