One of the things that makes soccer unique among sports is how sometimes a loss can elevate your teams profile more than a win. The Catholic Lady Irish ended their season with a loss to St. Dominic. Losing 2-0 but controlling the game most of the way. That resulted in the team actually rising a spot to number 6 in the final season rankings, two first team all-state selections, and another second team pick. Seniors Anne Prenger and Tara Bailes grace the first squad with junior Anna DeLong on the second squad. Obviously Catholic showed they were a legitimate contender, and their players got the consideration they deserved. Other area selections were Patsy Middleton of Willard and Bolivar’s Jonna Welch on the third team. Congratulations to these class 1 athletes on a fine year.
