Class 3 soccer quarterfinals
By Joboo | November 17, 2008
Updated 1:45 PM - My thanks to Ole for correcting my errors.
The Ozarks will have another soccer team in St. Louis next weekend as Glendale dominated Jefferson City 3-0 Saturday in Waynesville.
The Falcons fired away from range in the first half, scoring three times from the edge of the box and beyond, as they had a strong wind at their backs. Ian Newport got the eventual game winner in the 23rd minute hitting top right from just inside the area. Brandon Baum stretched the Jay defense more by hitting from 30 yards out in the 27th minute. And in a game of ‘Can You Top This?’, Newport sent home his second goal just before halftime firing in a free kick from close to 45 yards out.
In the second half with the wind in their face, Glendale avoided the bunker defense played by Jeff City in the first half. They focused on keeping possession and aggressively marked to prevent long shots. The Jays only got a couple of good looks and Jordan Pitts finished off his ninth shutout of the season.
Glendale next plays Friday at 8 PM at the Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton, MO against DeSmet (We’ve got girls!). DeSmet also won on a 3-0 score Saturday downing Francis Howell North to go to 17-7-1 on the season. Rockhurst and McCluer North face off in the other semi at 6 PM.
- Glendale 3, Jefferson City 0: Glendale - Ian Newport 2, Brandon Baum

It was actually Devon’s twin brother Ian who scored the game-winner and it was to the upper right corner - http://www.flickr.com/photos/sgfsoccer/3032642429/
And Ian was close to the midfield line when he scored his second goal, thus making it closer to 50 yards out - http://www.flickr.com/photos/sgfsoccer/3032645059/in/set-726103/
And whats with the partial feed Jooboo? Give me a full feed!

Thanks Ole. As always, you are second to none.
I made some changes to keep my front page from becoming unwieldy that are probably affecting your feed. I’ll see what I can do to correct it.
Thanks.
