Classes 4 & 5 quarterfinals
By Joboo | March 1, 2008
And then there were 2. The class 4 & 5 quarterfinals trimmed the crop of Ozarks teams from 5 down to 2. Both the Waynesville boys & girls fall in Rolla. While at Hammons Student Center, the present & future queens of girls hoops met, and the future will have to wait just a little bit longer as Casey Garrison led Bolivar to a 68-53 victory over the Kaitlin Jaeger led Webb City Lady Cardinals. The Cardinals on the other hand, did what they’ve done so well lately. Held off a late charge, kept their composure, & pulled away late with a relentless inside game as they eliminated Clinton 65-56. Alan Pink led Webb City with 21 points.
Class 4 Quarterfinals - Missouri State
- Girls - Bolivar 68, Webb City 53: Bolivar, Casey Garrison - 25 pts, 12 reb, 8 stl; 4 players in double figures; Webb City, Kaitlin Jaeger - 21 pts
I stated in my preview that the team that got timely shooting from it’s supporting cast would win, & so it was. A Crystal Guiot 3-pointer & layup from Hayley Blair helped open up a close game midway through the fourth quarter.
Next: Fri at Mizzou Arena - 10:45 AM - Berkely (25-3)/St. Dominic (25-1) winner vs Bolivar (27-2)
- Boys - Webb City 65, Clinton 56
Just too much inside strength combined with poise & composure down the stretch is proving to be the winning formula for the Cardinals. A good touch of athleticism doesn’t hurt either. Huge challenge awaits in Columbia in #1 St. Charles West.
Next: Fri at Mizzou Arena - 2:00 PM - St. Charles West (28-1) vs Webb City (25-4)
Class 5 Quarterfinals - Missouri University of Science & Technology
- Girls - Rock Bridge 51, Waynesville 28
Rock Bridge has punished teams without scoring punch all year, & followed that recipe tonight to a ‘T’. Just tenacious all over the place & Waynesville ends their year at 20-6.
- Boys - Fort Zumwalt South 60, Waynesville 57
Still waiting for more info on this one, but it looks like the inside battle we expected materialized. The Tigers end a memorable year at 22-7.
