4:15 - St. Charles West 62, Webb City 53 OT. It was there for the taking. Up by 8 early in the 4th, SCW clawed back into the lead only to see the Cardinals tie it, but fail to make the shot to win it. In overtime, Alex Bazzwell scored 7 points to lead the Warriors to victory. Despite being outrebounded 40-27 & not making a single 3 pointer, Webb City stayed right in the game by forcing 14 turnovers, getting 9 steals, and holding SCW well below their season FG%. Up by 9 at the half, the Warriors extended their lead to 11 with 5:01 left in the 3rd. They would not score again until the 4th quarter as Webb City went on a 19-0 run to seize an 8 point lead. The big three of Kramer Soderberg, Brian Maurer, & Bazzwell all hit 3s as SCW went back up 48-45. Caleb Powell cut the lead to 1 before Chance Sossamon made 1 of 2 free throws to tie with 54 seconds left. The Cardinals got the last chance in regulation as a Sossamon steal led to a Landon Zerkel 3 with 1 second left, but it missed & overtime did in the Cards. 3 point shooting was the difference as SCW hit 9 to Webb City’s 0. Powell had 16, Trey Laveroni 12, & Alan Pink 11 for the Cardinals. A truly heartbreaking loss & the kind that could lead to a major letdown for the 3rd place game tomorrow. Webb City now faces Lincoln Prep, who lost to Cape Girardeau Notre Dame today 67-57, at 10:40 AM for 3rd place.
3:25 - End of the 3rd at Mizzou Arena, Webb City 39, St. Charles West 33.
2:50 - At the half, St. Charles West leads Webb City 31-22.
1:30 - Bolivar wins 71-54. Berkeley closed to within 8 at the end of the 3rd, but the Lady Liberators went on a 14-0 run at the start of the 4th to put the game away. Fantastic team effort as Bolivar shoots 59.1% for the game, outrebounds Berkeley 35-15, and holds the Lady Bulldogs to 40.4% shooting for the game. Casey Garrison finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, & 5 steals. Crystal Guiot goes for 19 points. And Hayley Blair has a big 12 points. Another game played like this & they’re your state champs. Tomorrow they play Notre Dame de Sion, a 47-27 winner over Notre Dame(St. Louis), at 12:20 PM for the championship.
11:45 - Bolivar leads at halftime 33-20. Casey Garrison has 11 points & 7 rebounds. Crystal Guiot has 8 points. The Lady Liberators are shooting just under 60% from the field.
