Is it possible to overdose on high school basketball?

    By Joboo | December 31, 2007

As long as it’s as good as the tournaments being played last week, I don’t think so.  Here’s some closing thoughts for you.

Allen Vaughan of the News-Leader has a nice Blue & Gold wrap-up article posted here

With all due respect to Melody Howard & Jackie Stiles, Casey Garrison is the most complete prospect the Lady Bears have every landed.  Scoring, rebounding, court-awareness & vision.  Nothing is lacking.  Although if you wanted to say she could use some more speed & physicality, I could see your point.  The truly scary thing is she hasn’t fully matured physically yet.

A number of area teams showed potential for a deep run in the state playoffs.  Both Kickapoo boys & girls. The Clever, East Newton, & Branson boys.  Bolivar, Republic, Marshfield, & Ozark girls.  Who can hit the hot streak when it comes tourney time may be the real deciding factor.

Congrats to the Glendale boys for winning the William Jewel Holiday Tournament/Nelson division.  They rode a #4 seed all the way through & won all 3 games in impressive fashion.  Finishing it off with a 61-44 victory in the championship over Kearney.  If you’re scoring at home, that’s 3 tournament championships & a 5th place in a tough Neosho tournament for the Springfield schools.

Waynesville ended up with 2nd in the U.S. Bank Holiday Classic in Rolla.  The Tigers fell to Rogers(Ark) 53-52 in double overtime.

Final day of the Pink & White Tournament today.  With come great teams on display.  Go enjoy it if you can.

Now, I may have just enough time to recover for next year.
