Lacrosse? In the Ozarks?
By Joboo | April 21, 2008
That’s right, lacrosse. If you’re not familiar with the sport of lacrosse, you really should check out a game. Lacrosse is a fast-paced, hard-hitting, entertaining game that promotes good overall fitness in those who play it. And the average lacrosse game will usually have more scoring than most baseball games you’ll watch.
A relative newcomer to the Ozarks sports scene, lacrosse is now played on the high school level by the Springfield Falcons Lacrosse Club and Republic Tigers Lacrosse. The sport first appeared here on an organized level when the Missouri State club team originated around 2000. Now with 2 high school age teams competing on both the varsity and JV level, against teams from around the state in the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association, I think you’ll see the sport grow very quickly in the Ozarks.
Go on out and support our local teams & see what lacrosse is all about. Both teams are playing at home this weekend, and Springfield is in the mix to make the state playoffs. Expand your sporting world beyond the norm, and I think you just might like what you see.
