    More coaching chaos

    By Joboo | March 25, 2008

Tonight I received an unconfirmed report from a very reliable source that Webb City head girls basketball coach Walter Resa has stepped down after a fine year that ended in the state quarterfinals with a loss to eventual state champion Bolivar. Taking his place will be the head girls basketball coach from rival Carl Junction, Brad Shorter. Resa reportedly met with the team this morning to inform them of the change with Shorter informing his team today also.  The girls were reportedly “shocked” by the announcement.  Again, this is still an unconfirmed report.  But I do count my source as very reliable.  I’ll update this post with any changes.

The report from Friday regarding Morrisville releasing highly successful girls coach Melody Stewart was only partly true. It’s totally true that she was forced to resign, but that was only part of the story. Monday, head boys coach David Francka, a native of Morrisville, was also released. Francka has led the Panthers to 6 district basketball titles in 12 years and has won 66% of his games over that time period. Francka was told that the school board “wanted to go in a new direction”. Stewart sports a 76.8% winning percentage in basketball with a trip to Columbia, and an even better 77.6% winning percentage in softball with 2 trips to the final four.
