New sports web site
By Joboo | August 15, 2008
The Springfield News-Leader today announced that they will be using the website HighSchoolSports.Net as their source for scores, statistics, game information, etc. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that there are few things more frustrating than trying to obtain that kind of information on a regular basis. Gannett, the parent company of the News-Leader, is a partner in HighSchoolSports.Net. So it makes sense for them from an economic standpoint also.
If you haven’t checked out HighSchoolSports.Net, do so. It has great potential and looks like a powerful site. But as with all such sites, it’ll only be as good as the information supplied to it. So talk to your local coaches, encourage them to feed your statistics Jones. Because as they used to say on Schoolhouse Rock, knowledge is power. And sports knowledge is a powerful way to kill time.
