A few random things from the press today.
- Here’s and excellent article about Kord Stancell from McDonald County and the heart condition that has cut short his athletic career in the Joplin Globe. Most often we hear these type of stories after a tragedy has occurred. Nice to see one where the young person is not only OK, but looking forward to the future.
- Also a couple of articles on basketball coaching positions being filled for the Neosho boys and East Newton girls.
- If you’ve checked out High School HQ at the News-Leader, you may have noticed that the high school sports staff has doubled from 2 to 4. New staff members Michael Stacey and T.J. Brice have been brought on board to join Allen Vaughan and Joe Cress. Great to see the N-L upping their commitment to high school coverage. Welcome Michael & T.J.
- KOLR 10 has a nice video report on Ozarks new stadium that you can access here. I think even Nixa folks would have to acknowledge that’s it’s pretty nice.
- Haven’t heard of any Ozarks teams doing this, but what a great idea they have at School of the Osage near Lake of the Ozarks. A football camp for moms.
- MoSports released their pre-season power polls to the general public yesterday. Some familiar names from the Ozarks are included. Highlighted by Monett at #1 in class 3, and Carthage at #1 in class 4.
