CLASS 5
Southwest Baptist University - Bolivar
- Girls - Waynesville 51, Ozark 50
Good defense & almost a complete game get Waynesville the upset. Tasha Lord hits 2 free throws with .8 seconds left to win it. Waynesville next faces Rock Bridge Saturday in Rolla.
- Boys - Waynesville 82, Ozark 68: Ozark, Seth Arnold - 23 pts
Too much strength inside & too much experience for Ozark this year. Waynesville has 5 players hit double figures to move on to Saturday’s quarterfinals in Rolla where they will face 25-3 Fort Zumwalt South.
CLASS 4
State Fair Community College - Sedalia
- Girls - Bolivar 62, Nevada 34: Bolivar, Casey Garrison - 23 pts
It should have been a relatively easy game & it was. Bolivar moves on to play Webb City Saturday in Springfield. The Lady Cardinals are on a roll right now and cannot be overlooked.
- Boys - Clinton 60, Bolivar 37
Just too much. Too much tough defense, too much scoring, & Clinton was just too much for the Liberators tonight. They’ll have to be content with their first district title in 45 years. The Cardinals move to 24-4 & will face Webb City Saturday.
Missouri Southern State College - Joplin
- Girls - Webb City 65, Branson 62: Webb City, Kaitlin Jaeger - 28 pts
Branson had a 7 point lead late in the fourth quarter but couldn’t finish it off. The Lady Cardinals made the plays down the stretch to get the comeback win. Emerging freshman star Kaitlin Jaeger had 28 to lead Webb City.
- Boys - Webb City 62, Branson 52
Almost a carbon copy of their game earlier this year. The Pirates hang around & close the gap in the 4th, only to see the Cardinals inside game pull away. Budding correspondent BIGDADDY reports 5 players in double figure for Webb City who advance to the quarterfinals at Hammons Student Center Saturday against Clinton.
