    Sectional schedule and preview

    By Joboo | February 27, 2008

Time for the sectional round for classes 4 & 5 tonight.  Here’s the locations featuring Ozarks teams and a look at the action.

    CLASS 5

    Southwest Baptist University - Bolivar

Strong edge to Ozark, but they absolutely can’t overlook this game.  Ozark wins the common opponent comparisons easily, but Waynesville can still play.  They’ve shown a tendency to let games against quality opponents get out of hand this year.  But if they can put together 4 quarters of solid play, they could win this.  It will be a tough test though against a battle tested Ozark team.

Might be the best game of the sectional round.  Waynesville won their game earlier this year, but that was a different Ozark team.  Ozark has to try to fight Waynesville to a draw on the boards to stay in this one.  Classic youth vs experience match-up.

    Class 4

State Fair Community College - Sedalia

The #1 team in the state against a team with a losing record?  Should be a blowout right?  Actually it should.  The Lady Tigers have played a fairly weak schedule to get to 12-14.  Bolivar should just need to take care of business here.

Not as big of a mismatch as the girls side but still one sided.  Clinton is a very good team and has some good quality wins this year.  Bolivar played well, but won a decidedly weak district.  The Cardinals play good defense, & Bolivar would be well advised to try to keep this as low-scoring as possible.

Missouri Southern State College - Joplin

Should be a very competitive game.  Looking at common opponents suggests an edge to Branson.  Both teams lost to Nixa & Rogersville.  But the Lady Pirates won their games with Aurora & Republic who both defeated Webb City.

Should be a very good boys game.  Webb City won earlier this year 80-75 on their home floor.  Their inside game was too much for the Pirates to handle.  The Pirates need solid outside shooting to have a real shot at winning.

      FYI-
Webb City boys win over Branson 62-52. Five Webb starters in double figure scoring; the Wiebe kid from Branson scored 21 points but only played 19 minutes due to foul troubles.

Webb City Girls win over Branson 65-62. I believe Webb City was down by 7 with 2:54 remaining before coming back.
