State tennis starts
By Joboo | May 22, 2008
OK, we’re off at the state tennis championships and for the next 3 days Cooper Tennis Complex will be bustling. Team competition today, singles & doubles starting tomorrow with championships Saturday. I’ll be posting all the results as they come in. The singles & doubles draws were announced this morning. David Evans of Thomas Jefferson draws defending state champion Andrew Mellow of MICDS to highlight the class 1 opening round. In class 2, John Lazenby of Joplin will attempt to medal for a second straight year. But he has a tough assignment in the opening round taking on Matt Waite of Kirkwood who is 28-2 on the year. Keep checking throughout the weekend for all the state tennis action.
