The Cassville volleyball team at attention for the national anthem.
Volleyball season is up & running now. And I attended a very entertaining match last night as McDonald County traveled to Cassville. The home team got out to a good start and took the lead early in the first set. But after a timeout, the Lady Mustangs rallied behind the play of Ryan Parsons to take it 25-17. The second set was a reversal as Cassville controlled play and the Ladycats Marti Richmiller started to assert herself. Richmiller would finish with 12 kills & 9 assists and Cassville took the second set 25-17. The final set was back & forth all the way. Cassville’s Emily Orrell made some key digs to overcome some unforced errors on Cassville’s side. But in the end, Parsons’ tough serving (she would finish with 5 aces) gave McDonald County just enough margin to win the third set 25-22 & take the match. Both teams looked a little rough, but all in all, it was a good match to start the season. Neither side will be an easy match for any team.
Now, onto the days scores.
