Last week before everyone gets into districts, and it’s going to be sloppy out there for a lot of teams. How will that affect things?  Conventional wisdom says whoever can run the ball will win.  But conventional wisdom also says always double down when you have 11.  But in reality, if you’re playing with the rule that the dealer always stands on 17 (including soft hands, such as an Ace and a six), then double down on a 10 or 11 when the dealer’s up card is less than your total. If you’re playing a dealer who hits on hard 17′s, then also double down your 11 vs. a dealer’s Ace.  The point is, conventional wisdom is mostly, but not always right.  And specific circumstances can turn conventional wisdom into a hockey puck.  In this case, we’re talking about football which can really play havoc with conventional wisdom.

That being said, I confidently predict a fine week of picks.  Which, according to my paragraph up above, means I’ll be reeling in shock at about 9:45 PM.  But by then we should also have a much clearer picture of the title chases in the COC Large, SCA, SRVC, & WEMO.  I don’t know if the pinball machine will still be plugged in from last weeks score fest, but there looks to be a couple of high scorers again tonight.  So sit back & enjoy.  And while you do, read what I think all about it in the ….
