Big matchup tonight for the championship of the Forsyth Tournament as Strafford defeated Blue Eye 4-2.  Rhett Parton tosses a complete game for the win yielding only 5 hits along the way.  Connor Wilson hits a home run to help the cause.

Meanwhile on the soccer pitch, Glendale defeated archrival Kickapoo as Alix Opfer got the game winner.  The Lady Falcons finish second in the Ozark Conference at 8-1 behind Parkview.

And fresh off the presses, I’ve got the final district seeds we’ve been waiting on.  Class 4 district 11 where Branson gets the top seed.  Make sure to check out all the districts here.

Israel Potoczny, sports editor at the Lebanon Daily Guide, called my attention to some outstanding stats for the Conway baseball team.  I’ll let you hear from Israel in his own words.

“The Conway baseball team won the Strafford Tournament Monday 18-0 in five innings over Fair Grove. Conway pitchers have thrown 31 consecutive scoreless innings, and have allowed a total of three runs (one earned) in its last 50 innings.  The win completed a scoreless tournament thrown by Bear pitchers and they have now won five straight without allowing a run. The five wins were preceded by a 13-3 win in the championship game of the Hartville Tournament over Houston (a team that had previously lost just one game).  Houston scored all three of its runs last in the game. That game was preceded by a no-hitter in the semifinal over the then No. 8 ranked team, Dixon, and a shutout win over Gainesville.”

Kickapoo wins a pitchers duel tonight as they score one in the top of the 7th to send the game to extra innings, then tally another run in the top of the eighth to pull out the 3-2 win over Olathe South.  Elsewhere, Catholic bangs out three homers in a 15-6 win over Aurora.  And Nixa’s [...]

The last I knew, Walnut Grove and Hermitage didn’t have football teams.  But you couldn’t tell it from their score tonight.  Hermitage missed an extra point in dropping a 28-13 decision to Walnut Grove.  And I have an unconfirmed score of Liberal 28, Miller 0.  But they do play football.

Elsewhere, Norwood picked up a big win over class 1 #2 ranked Dora 7-6.  And Strafford used 5 home runs and a Rhett Parton 1 hitter to beat Ash Grove 25-0.  Chris Berry had 2 of the 5 jacks including a grand slam as he drove in 8 runs.

And on the soccer pitch, Glendale’s Emily Cline netted a hat trick as the Lady Falcons ended Joplin’s run of shootout magic with a 6-0 win.

On the soccer pitch, Glendale opened up their season in fine style defeating arch rival Kickapoo 4-2.  Emily Cline scored a pair for the Lady Falcons.

And a couple of brilliant pitching performances last night.  Dixon’s Dakota Emmons spun a 5 inning no-hitter as the Bulldogs dropped Crocker 11-0.  Emmons struck out 10 Lion batters and walked 2 for the night as Dixon ran their record to 3-0.  Not to be outdone, Riley Jenkins of Norwood tossed a 5 inning perfect game as the Pirates blanked Hurley 10-0.  So far this season, Jenkins has yet to allow a hit or a walk in his 2 pitching appearances.

Glendale didn’t score early, as it took over 20 minutes to get on the board.  But after that, they did score often in their sectional matchup with Joplin winning 9-1 behind four goals from Emily Cline.  Cline and Molly Brewer each knocked home a pair in the first half with Jeni Frewin grabbing one to make [...]

On a beautiful Ozarks day, the fields were full of all kinds of high school action.  The scoreboard at Catholic was mostly full of zeros as Kendall San Paolo struck out 11 in throwing a one hitter as the Irish beat Reeds Spring 1-0.  Nick Hurt drives in the lone run.  The bases in Sarcoxie were full of Purdy Eagles as they won 19-0 over the Bears.  Mason Roller and Blake Williams homered for the Eagles.  The course at Fremont Hills was full of drama as Glendale freshman Rayvaun Christenson defeated Ozark’s Ben Hogan in a playoff to win the Ozark Invitational.  (Justin Timberlake did not play)  And the soccer fields were full of excitement as Bolivar held off a Nixa comeback from a 4-2 halftime deficit with a 77th minute strike from Sarah Magana to win 5-4.  And those are all facts.  Just in case you think I’m full of it.

Alright, we’re back and ready to go.  I’ll fill everyone in more on the trip later.  What you want is the scores.  Here’s yesterday’s and we’ll have a monster post with last weeks next.

The big matchup last night was in Ozark with Ozark’s Ethan Mather facing Republic and lefty ace Tyler King.  King was very good, striking out 11 and allowing only 4 hits.  But 4 walks and 3 hit batters allowed Ozark to score 3 runs out of that meager production.  Meanwhile, Mather showed why he is the dominant pitcher in the area striking out a personal best 14 and allowing only 2 hits (both to King) as Ozark grabs an important win in the COC 3-0.
