Lots of volleyball action tonight throughout the Ozarks as five matches go the distance.  Glendale defeated Republic, Exeter topped Thomas Jefferson, Mt. Vernon knocked off Neosho, Clever stopped Verona, and Ava beat Reeds Spring.  A trio of soccer teams reached double digits tonight as Carthage beat Neosho and Nixa got the best of Republic by identical 10-0 scores.  And Ozark roughed up Branson 10-4.

But the game of the night was on the softball field where Willard scored 3 first inning runs to take a 3-1 lead on Carthage.  But that would be all they would get as Carthage added one in the second, tied it up with one in the fourth, and finally won the game with a run in the eighth to get the 4-3 victory.

Boys soccer got started last night with a renewal of the Greenwood/New Covenant rivalry.  The Warriors struck first on a first half goal from Tanner Stever.  But both Stewart Beezley & Chris Aiken would find the net before the half to make it 2-1 Greenwood.  In the second half, Beezley & Aiken both struck again as the Bluejays had a 32-8 edge in shots and Greenwood prevailed 5-0.

We also had a premier matchup on the volleyball court last night as class 3 #2 Rogersville took on Kickapoo.  And the Lady Chiefs looked on target for a good year dispatching last years state runner-up in straight sets 25-15, 25-20.

And finally a great one on the diamond last night as Walnut Grove outlasted Humansville 1-0 in 12 innings.  Lady Tiger hurler Hannah Harman fanned 17 Humansville batters in going the distance for the win.

Class 3 sectional soccer

Class 3 got the state boys soccer playoffs rolling last night across the state.  Three area teams entered play in the sectional round, but only one advances to the quarterfinals.

Rolla and high scoring Tylor Sinnott traveled to Jefferson City to take on the Jays.  These two met earlier this season in Rolla with Jefferson City taking a 2-0 victory.  Last night was more of the same as the Jays again shutout the Bulldogs 3-0 to eliminate Rolla and advance to the quarterfinals.
