All of you keeping an eye out for basketball talent to watch next year need to watch the Summit Conference. Looking at this years all-conference teams, half of the 10 boys first team players return next year. With four of those being sophomores. League champion Gainesville returns their leader Dakota Nash. Norwood will have sophomores Riley Jenkins and Cody Hull back. And Seymour will have first team soph Tyler Lee, as well as sophomore Jordan Humbyrd and junior J.J. Larsen who made honorable mention.
On the girls side, even more players return with only 3 seniors on the first team. Santana Cruz of Conway, Maggie Arnall of Hartville, and Fordland’s Megan Orr. Seymour will return two first teamers in Leann Lansdown and Taylor Hodge, and Norwood will have 3 all-conference players returning including Jordan Gray from the first team.
Congrats to the all-Summit Conference honorees. My thanks to Mansfield boys coach Terry Writer for sending the boys team in. And thanks to Norwood girls coach David Drake and another kind reader for supplying the girls side.

Key conference matchups last night as we are in the last week of the regular season for classes 4 and 5. Webb City completes their undefeated run through the COC Large division with a 69-40 win over Republic. Kaitlin Jaeger leads the way with 24 points. Hailey Roderique continues her strong year with 20.
Kickapoo is one win away from doing the same in the Ozark Conference after knocking off Rolla 57-32. Fair Grove reminds everyone of what they’re capable of and throws a monkey wrench into the Mid-Lakes Conferece race with a 55-52 win over Stockton. And in the COC Small, both Catholic and Bolivar pick up wins. Catholic drops Marshfield 52-40, while Bolivar defeats Reeds Spring 67-31.
The big performance of the night though is on the boys side where Hurley’s Steven Jennings goes for 36 points in the Tigers 79-41 win over Bradleyville.

Shocker at Weiser. It’s no shock that Kickapoo could beat Webb City, but to do it 49-27 by only allowing the Lady Cardinals 5 points in the second half is stunning. Great defensive effort by Kickapoo and they ran out to a 25-6 first quarter lead.
Meanwhile at the Blue & Gold, Ozark escapes again with a 3 pointer at the buzzer again defeating Strafford 40-37. Isaiah Monroe hits the dagger tonight as Ozark advances to the Gold championship game.
