One streak is gone as Conway’s scoreless streak comes to an end, but they still get a good win beating a solid Norwood team 7-5. Trailing 5-3 after the second inning, the Bears plated 3 in the third and held the Pirates scoreless the rest of the way to get the win. Jacob Childers and Tyler Perryman both went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored for Conway. While Nathan Huckaby had 4 RBI.
Another streak is still alive as Rolla’s Adrian Pogue recorded her seventh consecutive shutout leaving her one shy of the state record. The Lady Bulldogs got goals from Olivia Cox, Katelyn Maddy, Taylor Tronstad, Maria Vincent, and Kaylyn Stoll as they downed Joplin 5-0. To tie the record, Pogue and her teammates will have to shutdown a Jefferson City team that has only been shutout twice this season. They’ll face the Lady Jays Monday at Rolla.
And it was a big day for boys golf yesterday as the COC Large and Big 8 held their conference tournaments with Ozark and Mt. Vernon coming out on top. And Lebanon fought through the windy conditions to win the Aldo Sebben Relays in Springfield.

Many thanks to Waynesville Daily Guide sports editor Jack Hittinger for sending the link to his article on the Frisco League all-conference softball team. Just click on the heading below to read it for yourself. Jack is still kind of new to the area but is doing a great job learning about the sports scene in my old stomping grounds.

Shifting our focus for this question of the week, we turn to softball. Districts will be starting this week and we want to know who you think will go the farthest in state competition from the Ozarks. Nixa has had some dominating performances this year. But Republic is always a contender. McDonald County is often overlooked [...]

The Cassville volleyball team at attention for the national anthem.
Volleyball season is up & running now. And I attended a very entertaining match last night as McDonald County traveled to Cassville. The home team got out to a good start and took the lead early in the first set. But after a timeout, the Lady Mustangs rallied behind the play of Ryan Parsons to take it 25-17. The second set was a reversal as Cassville controlled play and the Ladycats Marti Richmiller started to assert herself. Richmiller would finish with 12 kills & 9 assists and Cassville took the second set 25-17. The final set was back & forth all the way. Cassville’s Emily Orrell made some key digs to overcome some unforced errors on Cassville’s side. But in the end, Parsons’ tough serving (she would finish with 5 aces) gave McDonald County just enough margin to win the third set 25-22 & take the match. Both teams looked a little rough, but all in all, it was a good match to start the season. Neither side will be an easy match for any team.
Now, onto the days scores.

Crocker came oh so close to claiming their first state softball title in their first trip to the final four since 1982. After giving up a run in the first, the Lady Lions tied it at 1 in the fourth on a Courtney Smith double to drive in Maegan Knudson. Then in the top of the [...]
