Lots of volleyball action tonight throughout the Ozarks as five matches go the distance. Glendale defeated Republic, Exeter topped Thomas Jefferson, Mt. Vernon knocked off Neosho, Clever stopped Verona, and Ava beat Reeds Spring. A trio of soccer teams reached double digits tonight as Carthage beat Neosho and Nixa got the best of Republic by identical 10-0 scores. And Ozark roughed up Branson 10-4.
But the game of the night was on the softball field where Willard scored 3 first inning runs to take a 3-1 lead on Carthage. But that would be all they would get as Carthage added one in the second, tied it up with one in the fourth, and finally won the game with a run in the eighth to get the 4-3 victory.

Big win tonight on the soccer pitch for Greenwood as the knock off last year’s class 2 runner up Bolivar 2-1. Matt Magana registered a first half goal to give the Liberators a 1-0 halftime lead. But Greenwood rallied in the second half shutting out Bolivar while getting the tying goal from Stuart Beezley. Then Devon Whitlock came through with the game winner. Nice early season win for the Blue Jays.

Don’t know all the details yet, but the Camdenton volleyball team took a big step toward proving they’re for real by beating Glendale last night 2 sets to 1. That gives the Lakers the sweep of the Springfield powers and gives them the absolute inside track on the Ozark conference championship.
On the softball diamond, Walnut Grove’s Hannah Harman continued her smoke throwing ways by no hitting Fair Play last night 6-0. Harman struck out 17 in the win. And joining Harman in the Thursday Night No-Hitte Club was Joplin’s Arlisa Arwood who tossed her second no-no of the year, a 3-0 win over West Plains.
In volleyball, class 1 #1 Eminence closed out Summersville in straight sets, but not before being pushed to the edge in both sets. The Lady Red Wings won the first by a 25-23 score, and the second set was a titanic struggle with Eminence finally pulling out the win 29-27.
