The Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced their all state teams this week. And they are simply loaded with Ozarks players.
Class 1 is dominated by seven first team players from four different teams. Eminence, Osceola, and Winona each place two players on the first team to lead the way. Osceola’s first teamers Imani Hairston and Meghan Schrock were joined by Alexis Self on the Honorable Mention list to give Osceola the most players selected of class 1 local teams.
Ash Grove and Fair Grove each had a first team selection and an honorable mention selection to lead the area squads. And Clever’s Bridget Hanafin winds up her high school volleyball career with her third all-state selection.

A big volleyball matchup last night as class 2 state ranked Ash Grove and Fair Grove met. Ash Grove has been present in the top 10 all year while Fair Grove has just moved up in the last two weeks. But it was the Lady Eagles coming out on top 2-1 as they won the last two sets after dropping the first. Kayla Kepler lead the Fair Grove offense with 17 assists. And Branson gets a big win as they down state ranked Republic 2-1. The Lady Pirates also dropped the first set but rallied behind Cailynn Hayter’s 29 assists on the night.

The Cassville volleyball team at attention for the national anthem.
Volleyball season is up & running now. And I attended a very entertaining match last night as McDonald County traveled to Cassville. The home team got out to a good start and took the lead early in the first set. But after a timeout, the Lady Mustangs rallied behind the play of Ryan Parsons to take it 25-17. The second set was a reversal as Cassville controlled play and the Ladycats Marti Richmiller started to assert herself. Richmiller would finish with 12 kills & 9 assists and Cassville took the second set 25-17. The final set was back & forth all the way. Cassville’s Emily Orrell made some key digs to overcome some unforced errors on Cassville’s side. But in the end, Parsons’ tough serving (she would finish with 5 aces) gave McDonald County just enough margin to win the third set 25-22 & take the match. Both teams looked a little rough, but all in all, it was a good match to start the season. Neither side will be an easy match for any team.
Now, onto the days scores.
