The All-State Soccer teams were announced yesterday and a very good showing for the Ozarks all the way around. Springfield Catholic lead the way with three first team (Justin Bowenschulte, Taylor Arens, and David Bailey), two second team, and two honorable mention selections in class 1. Greenwood’s Chris Aiken was the area’s only other class 1 first team pick as Greenwood had four players picked overall. And Crocker coach Lee Richardson was named public school coach of the year.
In class 2, the public school coach of the year also came to the Ozarks as Bolivar’s Steve Fast nabbed the honor. The Liberators had three players honored with Kyle Slagle and Bradley Stillwagon being named first team.

Catching up on some things, the all-state girls soccer team was announced a couple of weeks ago. Springfield Soccer has the full team for each class. You can use the links below to get to each one. Leading the way from the Ozarks is Catholic who placed six players on the class 1 first and second teams. Five of which are sophomores. Glendale nabbed three spots on the class 3 team. And Jonna Welch of Bolivar is the lone area selection in class 2 making the first team.

Nice honors for the area in class 3. Glendale gets 3 picks including co-offensive player of the year Devon Newport and public school coach of the year Jeff Rogers. Kickapoo has 2 players selected with goalie Chris Tombridge making first team. While Rolla and Parkview each get a single selection.
Bolivar gets much recognition in class 2 with 4 all-state selections, 3 of which will be returning next year. Defender Kyle Slagle joins Cassville’s lone selection, forward Uziel Franco, on the first team. Monett gets an honorable mention pick.
