On a wild Saturday of playoff action, six OS.Net teams punched their tickets to the final four. Including the Dadeville boys who won their anticipated matchup with Thomas Jefferson 63-55 in overtime. Zach Medley lead the Bearcats with 23 points hitting five three pointers including a buzzer beating 70 footer going into halftime. The Thayer girls are going to their first final four as Kaley Hebert’s 20 points lead them past Meadow Heights 51-40.
Unfortunately, the road ended for a few area teams also. The Stockton girls saw their season end 46-30 to Maryville. Verona stayed with undefeated Montrose the majority of the game. But when Tristan Carrasquillo fouled out with 6 minutes to go and Verona trailing by 2, Montrose’s Morgan Eye took over. Eye would finish with 29 points as the Lady Wildcats fall 61-50. The Frisco League saw their two remaining teams fall short of Columbia as the Stoutland boys lost to Wellston-Eskridge 68-55, and the Richland girls couldn’t get past Canton, falling 76-54.

CLASS 4
At Hammons Student Center, Springfield
- Girls – Webb City 57, St. James 36
- Last year, the key to beating Webb City was to beat their press and stop Kaitlin Jaeger. But as Webb City displayed Saturday against St. James, even if you do hold Jaeger down this year, you’re still likely to get smoked. Balanced scoring and speed by the bucketful carried the Lady Cardinals to the win at HSC. St. James hung around early but a 17-2 Webb run gave them an 18 point lead in the second quarter. St. James used solid free throw shooting to stay close, and pulled within 6 in the third before a 12-4 run by the Lady Cardinals keyed by a Kyndal Clark 3 pointer removed any more suspense. A great Saturday of football. Some great performances, a couple of fantastic finishes, and three area teams took a step closer to state titles. The Big 8 had a big day. And a future high school legend took his last trip to the end zone.

And then there were two.
Quarterfinal Saturday for classes four and five in Missouri and girls side is looking golden for the Ozarks. The Nixa Lady Eagles defeat Rock Bridge 44-39 to move onto Columbia in class five taking command with a 10-2 second quarter. And Webb City turns on the defense to beat St. James 60-39 in class four. Decisive second and fourth quarter gave them the winning edge with Kaitlin Jaeger scoring 26 points. At this point, the opponent for each is still to be determined as the games are in progress.
The news isn’t so good on the boys side as both area teams make good showings, but fall. Class four Aurora falls 78-70 to Helias after being tied with under 6 minutes left in the game. While Branson lead most of the game until late in the third quarter, then couldn’t get back over the hump in falling to Rock Bridge 56-53.
