Frisco League Soccer Tourney Don’t know all the details yet, but the Camdenton volleyball team took a big step toward proving they’re for real by beating Glendale last night 2 sets to 1. That gives the Lakers the sweep of the Springfield powers and gives them the absolute inside track on the Ozark conference championship. On the softball diamond, Walnut Grove’s Hannah Harman continued her smoke throwing ways by no hitting Fair Play last night 6-0. Harman struck out 17 in the win. And joining Harman in the Thursday Night No-Hitte Club was Joplin’s Arlisa Arwood who tossed her second no-no of the year, a 3-0 win over West Plains. In volleyball, class 1 #1 Eminence closed out Summersville in straight sets, but not before being pushed to the edge in both sets. The Lady Red Wings won the first by a 25-23 score, and the second set was a titanic struggle with Eminence finally pulling out the win 29-27. Well there was some outside activity yesterday. Unless they’ve started playing high school golf indoors which I wouldn’t be surprised at. The Ozark Conference held their girls gold tournament yesterday and Kickapoo won their fourth straight title. But only by one stroke over second place Hillcrest. West Plains’ freshman Emily Odom took medalist honors with a 77. GIRLS GOLF Ozark Conference Tournament, Horton Smith Golf Course, Springfield Team results 1. Kickapoo – 346 A very busy Thursday night on the volleyball courts and soccer fields of the Ozarks last night. Glendale & Kickapoo renewed their rivalry on the pitch with the Falcons coming out on top 4-1. Bolivar continued their strong play with a 5-1 victory over Branson that features a hat trick from Matt Magana. And Webb City won another nail biter 2-1 over Carl Junction. Some key volleyball matchups last night highlighted by Republic defeating Mountain Grove in straight sets 25-17, 25-23. Hurley won a thrilling three set clash with Crane. It looked like it would be short night when Hurley took the first set 25-11. But the Lady Pirates rallied to take the second set 27-25. Which set the set for a great final set with Hurley finally finishing it off 25-23. Kaitlin Jaeger notched 13 kills for Webb City as they knocked off Reeds Springs 25-22, 25-17. And Verona dropped Purdy in straight sets 25-18, 25-15 behind Jori Dodson’s 18 kills. SOFTBALL Varsity
