Spent the evening in Purdy taking in the girls first round games. Top seed Miller looked sluggish, but still defeated Greenfield handily 70-46 with Hannah Wilkerson scoring 32 points. Coach Brandon Weiss told me that on the ride to Purdy he suspected that the girls weren’t quite focused and that certainly appeared to be true. The result should serve to get them sharp for the next contest though.
That will be against fourth seed College Heights who came alive in the fourth period to beat Jasper 33-29. Down by 3 early in the quarter, the Lady Cougars closed the game on a 9-2 run to punch their ticket to the next round.

Coming to you from somewhere other than where I normally do, sitting in a chair that’s not at all comfortable, without access to my email, it’s Joboo with the very delayed Friday night scores. Kickapoo and KC O’Hara advanced to the final of the Nixa Invitational Friday night. Kickapoo used a big third quarter to turn around a 26-25 halftime deficit and defeat Hillcrest 71-57. While Nixa just couldn’t completely slow down O’Hara and fell 62-53.
In Rogersville, a pair of 31 point performances resulted in different results as Preston Guiot’s 31 leads Bolivar into the final 57-50 over Rogersville. But Patrick Holt’s 31 wasn’t enough to offset the absence of Shaun Thomas and Chadwick falls to Lebanon 75-61.
And the Laquey/Stoutland showdown at the Conway tournament gets short-circuited as #3 seed Miller knocked off the second seeded Tigers 53-47. Top seeded Laquey will be their opponent as the Hornets drop Fair Grove 54-30.
