Ta da!!! It’s the 2010 All-OzarksSports.Net Baseball Team. Hooray!! Yeah, I thought since school was about to start again, I needed to finish this off. As always, I will tell you how I go about selecting the team. And also as always, I’m positive I don’t have all the information on every player out there. So I would be happy to discuss players I haven’t selected. So here are my totally unscientific & highly flexible guidelines. And if you think someone was left off, comment or drop me an email with some details. Since it is my team, and I’m not above admitting a mistake, I’d love to hear about them and may even carve out a special place for them.

The Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association announced their all-state teams for 2010 today. And as with all coaches selections, you get some bad with the good. First the good.
- The quiet type. A few teams that quietly had good seasons got rewarded including Liberal who saw three players selected headed up by sophomore Colton Selvey, a first team pitcher. Others deserving teams with all-state picks included Billings, Wheatland, and Monett.
- Young guns. Of the 48 area players honored 26 are underclassmen, including four sophomores and 2 freshmen. Stockton will be returning all five of their all-state players for next year.
- Not the usual suspects. It’s good to see some new teams have players honored. Exeter, Spokane, Mt. Vernon, and Parkview don’t exactly leap to mind when thinking of baseball powers, but each have a player selected this season.
Now the bad.

One streak is gone as Conway’s scoreless streak comes to an end, but they still get a good win beating a solid Norwood team 7-5. Trailing 5-3 after the second inning, the Bears plated 3 in the third and held the Pirates scoreless the rest of the way to get the win. Jacob Childers and Tyler Perryman both went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored for Conway. While Nathan Huckaby had 4 RBI.
Another streak is still alive as Rolla’s Adrian Pogue recorded her seventh consecutive shutout leaving her one shy of the state record. The Lady Bulldogs got goals from Olivia Cox, Katelyn Maddy, Taylor Tronstad, Maria Vincent, and Kaylyn Stoll as they downed Joplin 5-0. To tie the record, Pogue and her teammates will have to shutdown a Jefferson City team that has only been shutout twice this season. They’ll face the Lady Jays Monday at Rolla.
And it was a big day for boys golf yesterday as the COC Large and Big 8 held their conference tournaments with Ozark and Mt. Vernon coming out on top. And Lebanon fought through the windy conditions to win the Aldo Sebben Relays in Springfield.
