Semifinal Football Report

CLASS 2

  • Maryville 21, Lamar 7
    • The Tigers were in it all the way until Maryville scored with just over 2 minutes remaining to secure the victory.  The story was the Maryville defense as Lamar threw everything but the kitchen sink at them in an attempt to generate offense.  Lamar was only able to rush for 128 yards on the day, and had just under 250 yards total.  But Lamar’s defense was just as good shutting down the Spoofhounds offense for all but their last scoring drive.   Continue reading Semifinal Football Report

Semifinal Football Scores

Only 1 Ozarks team moves on as one defending champ wins, one loses, and a underdog finally is taken down.

CLASS 2

Maryville 21, Lamar 7

The Tigers couldn’t overcome deficits of 7-0 at the half, and 13-7 in the fourth as the Spoofhound defense was just too much.

CLASS 3

Cassville 23, KC O’Hara 7

Semifinal Football Preview

And here we are.  The last step on the road to the Dome.  Lamar has made their first semifinal.  Can they take the next step like Cassville did last year?  The Wildcats went all the way as an underdog in 2008.  Can they repeat as the front runner?  Webb City brought an end to Kearney’s quest for a perfect season a year ago.  Can they withstand a Bulldog squad bent on revenge?  With Clark County’s loss last Saturday, Cassville and Webb City have the longest playoff winning streaks at 8 games.  Can they both go back to back?  And can the Big 8 put two teams in the big game?  We’ll find out Saturday.  Here’s what to watch for.

Carthage/Webb City suspensions

One doesn’t have to search very far into the past to find instances of misinformation being spread about Webb City football on the MoSports football message board.  So it was with a big grain of skepticism that I read about some suspensions that were forthcoming for some Cardinal players.  But, in this case, it appears that [...]

From the bleachers – Webb City at Rogers

One thing I dislike about football season is that it’s so short.  10 weeks, then the playoffs which add 4 more weeks and it’s done.  Which for someone like me, leaves me very little time to see all the teams I’d like to.  It’s like a really great potluck dinner.  Everything is prepared and you’re dying to eat.  There are tons of great dishes, but you can only sample so many before the table is cleared or you get full.  You get pretty selective about what you take.  That’s the way I am about the games I attend.  Now factor in that I’m a band parent that’s very involved with the marching band.  That obligates me to be in attendance for all the home games I can make it to.  Cutting my potluck time in half.  In short, I give a lot of thought to what games I’m going to watch

And so it was that I, along with a fellow football fan, found ourselves driving down to Rogers, Arkansas on Sept. 4th to watch the clash between the Webb City Cardinals & the Rogers Mountaineers.  So many things attracted me to this game.  Seeing for myself how good Webb was after their easy win over Harrisonville.  Laying eyes on Rogers $15.5 million football facility.  The chance to spend an evening in among the Webbies themselves and see if they were as good/bad as advertised.  And the fact that last years game between these two was a classic and this game held the same possibility.
