5:00 PM - And the Cavaliers fall one match short of repeating as state champs. They gave MICDS their toughest match of the tournament, but still fall 5-1. Coleman Bandy and Andrew Prigmore won their #3 doubles match in 3 set, while Spencer Newman and David Evans took their match to 3 set before falling 4-6, 6-4, 4-6. From there the Rams took the first 3 singles matches 6-4 & 6-0, 6-2 & 6-4, and 7-5 & 6-1 to secure the title. Thomas Jefferson finishes the year at 12-2 with a second place finish. A fine year for the Cavaliers.
12:15 PM - The team semifinals are complete in class 1 and Thomas Jefferson marches onto the finals with a 5-1 victory over Clayton. The Cavaliers took the 1 & 3 doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead. Then David Evans, Coleman Bandy, and Andrew Prigmore finished their singles matches to secure the win. Their opponent will be their semifinal foe from last year, MICDS who rolled Excelsior Springs 5-0 in the other semifinal today. The Rams dropped only 11 games total in the 5 matches that finished. Should be a great contest for the state title. It’s scheduled to start at 1 PM. Check back here for updates.
