Towe fired from Nixa

After 23 years, a 19-8 season this year in the best girls basketball conference in the state, a 410-225 career record, & a 2000 3A state championship, Randy Towe has been fired as girls basketball coach at Nixa High School. Sadly, far too many schools exist, both public & private, in which the real emphasis is on athletic success instead of academic & personal development. And we have seen more than enough stories along these lines to leave us skeptical toward those who do proclaim an academic emphasis. Incidents such as this & Aurora’s alleged parent committee that formed to get coach Brian Moler removed give a huge black eye to, and make things harder for, those schools that truly do put academics first.
