Last night of district volleyball action and I was at Aurora to watch Republic take down fellow COC member Reeds Spring in the final. Republic had advanced in straight sets over Mt. Vernon 25-15, 25-19. While Reeds Spring fought back after being down 1 set to drop Cassville in three sets 16-25, 25-23, 25-20. The first set of the final was classic back and forth action. Republic jumped out to an 8-5 lead. But Reeds Spring kept closing and even took a 12-11 lead, only to see Republic pull back ahead and close out the first set 25-23. The second set was more of the same until, with the score 14-12 Republic, the Lady Tigers went on a 9-1 run that gave them the lead for good and the district title. Republic advances to face Carl Junction Saturday at 3 PM at Marshfield High School.
