Week 9 district football update

OK, for this week, I’m going to do my best to layout the scenarios in each district.  Most are pretty cut & dried.  But there are 5 that are a little more complicated.  And for those, the points could possibly come into play.  If I can layout exactly how much a team needs to win by or lose by, I will.  But I may also be referring to what I’ll call ‘point change’.  The change in point totals between two teams.  For example, class 1 district 4.  Jasper is 2-0 and +17.  Lockwood is 1-1 and +9.  To catch the Eagles, Lockwood needs a  point change of 8 points.  Which could happen by Jasper losing by 5 and Lockwood winning by 3.  Hopefully that makes sense.  And if it doesn’t, just check in Saturday morning & I’ll let you know who’s in.

No guarantees given on the accuracy of my calculations, but I think that I’m right in what I’ve written.  All calculations are based on wins in regulation time.  Figuring in the possible scenarios with overtime wins requires a degree in astrophysics and a lot more time than I have available.  Enjoy.

Sarcoxie is district champ if they win by 9 or more and Lockwood loses; or if they win by 9 or more, Lockwood wins, and the point change is 10 points or more.  They are second if they win by 8 or less and Lockwood loses; they win by 9 or more, Lockwood wins, and the point change is 9 points or less; or they lose, Lockwood loses, and the point change is 10 or more.
